Syndicist Party


Partido Sindicalista (Spanish Partido Sindicalista) is a Spanish political party formed in 1932 by the former secretary of CNT's anarchosyndicalist trade union, Ángela Pestaña. Pestana's intention was to create a workers' movement consisting of a union and a political party, sharing between itself and union and political action.

CNT was skeptical of the Syndicist Party. PS structures existed in Madrid, Andalusia, Catalonia, Aragon and Valencia. The daily El Pueblo (People); In addition, in 1936-1937 in Catalonia she published the newspaper "Hora Sindicalista" (Time Union), and later to January 1939 "Mañana" (Tomorrow). The youth of the party was called Juventudes Sindicalistas.

In 1936, two party members, Ángel Pestaña and Benito Pabón, were elected to the parliament, where they belonged to the leftist coalition of the People's Front; PS supported the Republic during the Spanish Civil War. She collapsed after Pestana's death in December 1936; At that time there were 30,000 members.

In 1976 the party formed under the same name, referring to the tradition of the Syndicist Party of the 1930s. In the 1979 elections she won 9,777 votes (0.05%), of which 5,932 (0.2%) in Catalonia. It was until 1985.
