The Week in Chess
The Week in Chess (TWIC) - one of the first online services devoted to current chess world events.
The author of the site was Mark Crowther in 1994, who is the webmaster to this day. Initially, the TWIC was run as a rec.games.chess theme in Usenet, then moved to the author's private site, later on at www.chesscenter.com, www.chess.co.uk, and now at www.theweekinchess.com. From the very beginning, the content of the site was mainly based on the results of current tournaments. In a very short time, the site has become one of the most popular chess pieces, thanks in large part to the rapid update that many Crowther collaborators have provided around the world. With the development of the site, issues related to chess debuts have been introduced, making TWIC popular among professionals and amateurs. The Week in Chess is being run as a weekly publisher with additions to tournament results and upcoming events, as well as batch files in CB and PGN format. In January 2014, the 1000 issue was published.
