First contact (anthropology)
Picture showing Krzysztof Kolumba discovering "New World"
The first contact - the date defining the meeting of two different cultures, which previously did not know about each other. An example may be the meeting of Spaniards and Arawakis in 1492 when Christopher Columbus encountered a group called the Indians because he believed he had reached India.
A meeting of two cultures can lead to the extinction of one of them due to mutual aggression or if one group is immunized against another.
