Intratec TEC-9 Pistol
Intratec KG99
Intratec TEC-9 - American machine gun, self-replicating version of the Swedish machine gun Interdynamic MP-9.
While working in the Swedish company, Interdynamic AB, George Kellgren constructed the MP-9 submachine gun. This was a refurbished, polished chamber with a polymer version of the Carl Gustaf m / 45 machine gun. However, the MP-9 did not gain much interest and was not produced in mass production. After the bankruptcy of Interdynamic Kellgren decided to emigrate to the US. Together with Carlos Garcia founded Intratec, which was to produce the MP-9 for the American market. Since the acquisition of a license for the production of self-propelled guns was complicated, and the demand for such weapons was limited, the owners of Intrateca decided to turn the MP-9 into a short self-propelled gun, which would make production and sales easier. For this purpose, the MP-9 was deprived of the ability to fire in series (became a self-propelled weapon) and flask (according to US legal regulations guns with a barrel length of less than 406 mm and without a flask are short weapons). This rebuilt weapon was approved by ATF for sale.
Due to the technology of production and the simple construction of the TEC-9 it was cheaper than other self-propelled guns. However, it turned out relatively easily that it could be transformed into a machine gun. As a result, ATF withdrew the sale of KG-9. In the following years, Intratec sold more versions of TEC-9 (including TEC-DC9, KG9, KG99), but was subsequently withdrawn from the market by ATF as a design that was too easily convertible to machine guns. In 1994, TEC-9 was listed 19 in the name of the Federal Assault Weapons Design Board, whose further production and sales were forbidden (the law applies only to new copies, the sale of TEC-9 in private hands in the secondary arms market). still legal). As a result, another version of AB-10 has appeared on the market, with a different name and design to circumvent the provisions of this law. Ultimately, the production of this last TEC-9 was completed in 2001.
Intratec DC-9 was a self-propelled weapon, firing from an open lock (version TEC-DC-9 and later fired from a locked lock). The trigger mechanism allowed only single fire. The weapon was powered by a 9 mm Parabellum ammunition from a two-row magazine with a capacity of 30 rounds which was nestled in front of a pistol grip.
