Polish Soil Association


Polish Society for Soil Science (PTG) - an organization promoting scientific achievements in the field of soil environment research and stimulating the development of soil science, agricultural chemistry and agricultural microbiology. It also seeks to contribute to the protection and rational management of land. The Society carries out its tasks by organizing congresses and scientific conferences, strengthening international cooperation, conducting publishing, popularizing and educational activities, and initiating scientific research and co-operation in their pursuit.

PTG was founded in 1937 on the initiative of Feliks Terlikowski, Jan Włodek and Tadeusz Mieczyński. The Society is a member of the International Union of Soil Science Societies (IUSS), cooperates with the European Union of Earth Sciences (EGU), the Committee on Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Polish Society of Humus Substances, the Polish Geological Society, the Polish Forest Society and the Polish Botanical Society. PTG currently has 555 members, affiliated in 15 regional branches. It publishes a quarterly journal "Goczusznowiec", devoted to a wide range of issues related to the soil environment. In "Roczniki", original works and problem articles are published in Polish or English.
