Jozef Gawrylik


Józef Gawrylik (born March 25, 1893 in Vilnius, died December 8, 1937 in the USSR) - Belarusian radical leftist activist, deputy to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Supported a radical group of students at USB in Vilnius, who from July 1929 published a monthly "Wolnaja Dumka ". Arrested in August 1930 along with other deputies and employees of the "Zmahannia" Secretariat, sentenced to 8 years of heavy imprisonment (and additionally 18 months for a demonstration at the trial) on 12 January 1931. Initially he was in Vilnius, then in Rawicz. On the basis of the agreement on the exchange of political prisoners on 15 September 1932 he left for the Soviet Union. Arrested a year later in Minsk and executed, rehabilitated in 1956.
