Nitokris I

Nitokris I (Sheppenupet III) - the divine wife of Amon, the daughter of Psametycha I. The office was held between 659-586 BC. Adoption was under the influence of the pressure Psametycha, upset at Sheepupupet II. Perhaps under the influence of diplomatic efforts or even military intervention. The adoption itself describes the text on the stele, called the Stake of Adoption. This monument is currently located at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. Stela was found in 1897 in Karnak by Georges Legrain. With the adoption of Nitokris, she received her estates from her father and provided supplies with the officials responsible. Psametych I, a descendant of the Saite dynasty, was aware of the immense influence of divine spouses: Sheppenupet II and Amenardis II, descended from the kings of kings. Therefore, by supporting and giving his great help to his daughter, he sought to reduce their significance. In order to cover up his aspirations, he changed his daughter's name from Nitokris to Sheepupupet, which would make her predestined to be her predecessor, and in fact help to reach her first priority.
