ARKONA (Natural Recognition Algorithm) is a bridge convention developed by Polish theorist Lukasz Sławiński. Sławiński has developed an algorithm that allows - according to the criteria adopted by him - to recognize the degree of penalties of the natural counter. A natural counter is a counterpart in this context, which has no other systemic significance in a given auction situation: as against a wist (eg, against a Lightner) or negative.

Using ARKON, the contention of a counter is graded as follows:
