Wawrzyniec Smolnicki

Wawrzyniec Smolnicki (born August 10, 1783 in Ruda) - ordained priest on 25 October 1807 in an unknown place. From June 4, 1818 he was the parish priest of the Corfu parish. The faithful especially remembered his devotion and courage in the frequent fires and cholera epidemics that hit the Korfants in the nineteenth century. Wawrzyniec Smolnicki, in addition to the parish priest's post, also served as Dean of the Nieodlinski Deanery and from 1845 the District Inspector of Education in Niemodlin. He died in 1863 after 45 years of leading the Catholic community in Korfantow.
