Helena Sanguszko


Helena Sanguszko (Sanguszkówna) (born February 5, 1836, died April 22, 1891) is a Polish aristocrat, famous for her beauty.

She was the daughter of Wladyslaw Sanguszko and Izabela Maria Lubomirska. Among the candidates for her hand was, among others. Prince Władysław Czartoryski, but Wladyslaw Sanguszko opposed the marriage, taking good care of relations with the Russian authorities; Helena never married, but she had a long affair with her sister's husband, Jadwiga, Prince Adam Stanisław Sapieha. It is said that two children came from this union. Stanisław Tarnowski wrote about her: "She had something in her attitude and face from antiquity; The young goddess Diana could be just like her.
