Travel motif

Motif (circular motif) - the most common motif in literature, common works of various authors and literary periods, easily recognized by readers. The presence of migratory motifs is characteristic of works derived from folk culture (fairy tale, fairy tale, ballad, legend) and belong to the so-called. popular culture (crime novel, love story).

In fine literature, a literary motif is a unit subjected to the law of repetition and reinterpretation, that is, it occurs in a composition in two aspects: schematic - as a common element of a certain class of works (most often they are the realizations of the same literary genre or genre) Arcade in the idyll, the theme of betrayed love in the romantic ballad, the motif of the evil sisters in the fairy tale; and individually - as a one-time and specific for a given work location of the circular motif in the world presented. In this sense, the motif is a factor binding the work to the area of literary tradition, referring to other works that make up the community on the basis of the same motif.

The introduction of a conventionalized motif consisting of repetition and assimilation in a non-original and secondary way (ie without an interpretation element) causes a significant reduction in the artistic value of the work.
