Compass plants

Eucalyptus microtheca Eucalyptus Eucalyptus.

Compass plants - plants that are strongly sunlit, whose defense strategies against excessive light and heat (as a consequence of water loss) are plagiofototrophic leaf movements. As a result of this (leafy) movement, leaf blades are set at the time of the strongest sunshine vertically and parallel to the direction of sunlight, ie in the north-south axis. This allows plants to use relatively low light from the east and west and avoid strong sunlight at the time of its greatest activity. Examples of compass plants are: compass lettuce, rotifers, eucalyptus trees.
