Cornish hymn

Trelawny - the official hymn of Cornwall.

The lyrics and music were written in 1824 by Robert Stephen Hawker. The hero of the song is Bishop Jonathan Trelawny (1650-1721), imprisoned in London's Tower in 1688 for opposing the Jacob II Declaration on Religious Tolerance. The Cornish version

Out spake their Captain brave and bold: A merry wight was he: 'If London Tower were Michael's hold, We'd set Trelawny free! 'We'll cross the Tamar, land to land: The Severn is no stay: With "one and all," and hand in hand; And who shall bid us nay?
