Hans Adolph Brorson

Hans Adolph Brorson Hans Adolph Brorson (born June 20, 1694 in Randerup, died June 3, 1764 in Ribe) is a Danish bishop, author of religious hymns, piety advocate. Curriculum vitae

Brorson belonged to a family of clerical traditions, both of his brothers being pastors. Hans Adolf published the first hymns in 1732 when he was a pastor in East Jutland. The most important piece of his work is the collection of religious aphorisms for various occasions under the title Troens rare klenodie (1739: "Rare jewels of faith"). In addition to his own works there were many translations of German-language works, while 82 hymns were his own.

He became a bishop of Ribe in 1741, where he remained for the rest of his life. His success as a parish administrator was met with personal distress; His son was crazy and his first wife died quickly. These worries are apparent in his second poetry collection, Svanesang (Swan Song), published posthumously in 1765.

It is also worth mentioning his funeral hymn Her vil ties ("Everything will be quiet").

The Romantic era brought out his work of partial oblivion in the late 18th century. Authoritative control (person):
