I dynasty of Isin (about 2017-1794 BC) - one of the royal Mesopotamian dynasties, founded in the city of Isin by Ishii-Erra, the former governor of Ibbi-Suen, the last king of the Third dynasty of Ur. The newly established kingdom, although territorially smaller than the kingdom of Ur III, took over largely its institutional structures and ideological foundations. At the beginning of its existence, the kingdom of Isin played a dominant role in southern Mesopotamia. With time, however, it began to lose significance in favor of the neighboring kingdom with its capital in Lars. The last independent king of Isin, Damiq-ilishu, defeated King Lars Rim-Sin I. Soon after, Isin was absorbed by the Hammurabi state from Babylon.

During the reign of the First Isin dynasty, the Sumerian list of kings gained its final form. Ruler of the dynasty Bibliography
