Józef Tarłowski
Józef Tarłowski Józef Tarłowski (born February 27, 1931 in Lublin, died 22 December 2006, son of Zygmunt and Zofia) - Lublin graphic artist, cartoonist, caricaturist, member of the Castle group, art historian, traveler, mathematician and longtime teacher Building School Complex in Lublin (graduated from mathematics). Famous among others is a series of monuments of Lublin and Lubelszczyzna. He died on December 22, 2006 for a heart attack.
He graduated from junior high school and high school. Stanisław Staszic. He studied art history at the Catholic University of Lublin and received a master's degree in 1955. After graduation he worked in "Lubgal" as a plastic-decorator. He then studied at the Faculty of Mathematics-Physics-Chemistry of the Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin, obtaining a degree in mathematics in 1967. For three years he was an assistant at the Chair of Mathematics of the Faculty of Economics at UMCS, where he earned his doctorate. In 1970 he started working as a mathematics teacher, and for many years he worked in the School of Building Schools at Al. Racławicki.
His passion for life was, however, a drawing he devoted himself entirely to. He created cycles depicting monuments of Lublin and Lubelskie. Its drawings of the alleys of the Old Town are known. The favorite subject was satirical drawings illustrating the reality in which he lived, as well as caricatures of famous lublinians. He arranged the exhibition, published works in the form of postcards. He illustrated books. In regional programs of Lublin Television, he presented the architectural puzzles of Lublin and Lubelszczyzna.
He was close friends with Stanislaw Szacon.
He has been cooperating with Kurier Lubelskie for many years. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the newspaper, he painted his unique caricature of all the journalists working there. He had a long column at the weekly cultural column with his column "From teak of Józef Tarłowski".
He created drawings of monuments, alleys, streets of Lublin and the Lublin region, later when he went on a pension after traveling to the world, it was a wonderful, colorful view of various corners, eg from India or Bangladesh. Its Lublin drawings - characterized by the freedom of the line, and with a great sense of the atmosphere of the city - can be met in the town hall and various institutions. Occasionally, the collections of Lublin postcards and calendars with his drawings were also published.
He was a member of ZPAP and SPAK and belonged in 1957 to the founders of the most famous Lublin artistic group - Castle Group. Always smiling, witty, he also belonged to the Association of Polish Caricature Artists. In the newspaper AS of the Association of Alumni of the UMCS in 2002 can be read in the memoirs of their meeting in Kosciuszko Manor: "While all the hundred people played, danced, ate, drank, Mr. Józef Tarlowowski made a modest atelier and tirelessly caricature caricature. The models showed their physiognomy with delight, as the caricaturist ran his dash well, but fortunately, in a deep manner. "
He also illustrated books. In a review of one of them - "Gródki" by Roman Tokarczyk - it was written: "The illustrations were made by the famous Lublin artist Józef Tarłowski, who was very good in drawing, and also added his particulars to the" vitality "and readability of monographs.
To the end he remained fully intellectual and created. Despite his age, he actively used the Internet and computer. He took care of the sick animals he spent a lot of time on.
Józef Tarłowski's funeral took place on Friday, December 29th. 12 at the cemetery at ul. Linden. Bibliography
