Klezmer

Lubliner Klezmorim at the Jewish Theater in Warsaw during the Purim feast

Klezmer (Hebrew "כלי" - "instrument", "instrument", "זמר" - "chant") - traditional Jewish wedding musician or hawk or other party (eg bar mitzvah). European klezmerers came from the poor circles of the Jewish population, occupied a low social position, emphasized the jargon they used (klezmer-loszn). This jargon was similar to that used by thieves (ganovi-losz). At the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth century, during the great emigration to the United States caused by the pogroms of Jews in Russia, new horizons for work began to appear before the musicians. Then their position and situation began to change for the better.

The tradition of music has been passed down from generation to generation. The father taught his son, he passed on his skills to his son, thus creating klezmer dynasties. The last pre-war klezmer living in Poland was Leopold Kozłowski, a representative of the Brandwein dynasty.
