Synagogue at ul. Gogola 10 in Poltava

Synagogue in Poltava - a Jewish synagogue located at ul. Gogola 10 in Poltava.

It was built in 1856 at ul. Gogola 10 in the Jewish quarter of that time. Next to it was the so-called. great synagogue. The architect gave it the shape of a monumental two-storey building in the style of classicism. It was built on a square plan, covered with a massive dome. The facade is decorated with Corinthian pilasters and cornices, until today there are visible elements of rustic.

In 1911, the building burned down in a fire, but it was quickly rebuilt. In Soviet times, the authorities of the USRR decided to transform the club into a club. During the German occupation the building was devastated by German soldiers. After 1945, it was reconstructed with the Philharmonic. Bibliography
