Academic chaplain
Academic chaplain - a diocesan or religious priest who is entrusted with the task of caring for a group of faithful associated with a particular academic center. Academic chaplains are elected by the bishops of the Ordinary or the choice made by the religious superior is for example approved by them. They are most often found at special churches or chapels, or at university.
The main task of academic pastors is to carry out the mission of the Church in an academic environment. Their tasks include preparing students to live in marriage and family, helping to discover vocation and Christian intellectual formation. According to John Paul II, the Church encourages pastors to be evangelizers of culture.
