Scolopendra heros


Scolopendra heros is the largest North American skolopendra and one of the largest in the world. Adults attain a thickness of more than 20 cm. There are four subspecies: Scolopendra heros heros (Girard, 1953) Scolopendra heros castaneiceps (Wood, 1862) - the name comes from the German word 'kastanienbraun' which means chestnut color.
