Christopher Maroni

Cristoforo Maroni (died December 5, 1404 in Rome) is an Italian Cardinal of the great Western Schism, representing the Roman Obedience.

He came from Rome. In 1387 he was elected bishop of Isernia e Venafro, which was until December 18, 1389, when Pope Boniface IX appointed him cardinal-presbyter S. Ciriaco. Archbishop of the Vatican Basilica since September 1397. He mediated in the dispute of Boniface IX with the Roman baron Paolo Savelli for control of several castles (the dispute ended with a settlement). He participated in the conclave of 1404 and died shortly after its completion, presumably at night from 4 to 5 December 1404.
