Gregorio Petrocchini


Gregorio Petrocchini (born 1535, died 19 May 1612 in Rome) is an Italian cardinal, Augustinian. In 1585 he was ordained a monk in Ancona March, and two years later a general of the Order. In 1589 Pope Sykstus V raised him to the rank of cardinal. He was a cameraman of the Holy College from January 1605 to January 1607. In January 1611 he became a cardinal protoprezist, which enabled him to take over the first vacant suburbicar diocese. Bishop of Palestrina since 17 August 1611. He died in Rome and was buried in the church of S. Agostino.
