Maciej Potępa


Maciej Potępa (born 1945), Polish philosopher, professor.

He studied philosophy and physics at the University of Warsaw. In the years 1969-2001 he worked at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Lodz, and in 1997-2002 at the Institute of Philosophy of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2001 he became a lecturer at the University of Warmia and Mazury in the Institute of Philosophy. He was a fellowship of the foundation. Alexandra von Humboldt in the years 1982-1984. He also lectured in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. In the years 1996-1998 he lectured at the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Siegen. In 1994 he co-organized the first world hermeneutical congress in Halle. In 1998 he was nominated for an award. Alexandra von Humboldt. Member of the Fichte Society in Germany and the Society. Karl Jaspers in Austria. He mainly deals with German idealism and the history of hermeneutics, he is the author of many works devoted to this field. His last work is: The Controversy about the Subject in Modern Philosophy. Husserl. Heidegger. Gadamer. Jaspers. (2003).

In recent years, accused of plagiarism by the University of Lodz, he became the main subject of interest for the press on the occasion of articles about the state of Polish science and the problem of copying works.
