Wang Hao (logik)


Wang Hao, Chinese. Pinyin Wáng Hao (born May 20, 1921 in Jinan, May 13, 1995) is an American logician, philosopher, and mathematician of Chinese origin.

After completing mathematics at Kunming National University (1943) and philosophy at Tsinghua University in Beijing (1945), he went to the United States to continue his studies. He studied logic at Harvard University, received his doctorate in 1948, and then (the same year) as assistant professor.

In the early 1950s, he studied with Paul Bernays in Zurich. In 1956 and 1961 he was awarded the title of Reader in the Philosophy of Mathematics and Harvard (Gordon MacKay, Professor of Mathematical Logic and Applied Mathematics). In 1972 he joined a group of American scientists from China (managed by Chih-Kung Jena). Between 1967 and 1991 he was a professor of logic at Rockefeller University in New York.
