Isaac Titsingh

In the years 1779-1784 he represented Dutch interests in Japan (Nagasaki port and Dejima island), in 1785-1792 in India, in 1792-1793 in the Dutch colony of Batavia, and in 1794-1795 in China. In 1795 he congratulated the Emperor of China for the 60th anniversary of the government more quickly than the British ambassador George Macartney, which had commercial implications.
