Teddy Bear - Polish feature film from 1980 directed by Stanisław Barea, the first part of the film trilogy, which includes also Controlled Conversations and Ryś. The film is set in the times of the Polish People's Republic, and many considered it a cult comedy.

Story

Ryszard Ochódzki (called Misiem) is the president of the "Tęcza" sports club. While traveling abroad, he is stopped because several passports have been snapped out of his passport. Ochodzki is suspected of being a former wife who wants to delay his departure and reach London before him. The former spouses had set up an account in one of London's banks before, and Irene's departure had forced them to divide their possessions. Money deposited abroad does not want to share with the other party.

With the help of a friendly production manager, Hochwander starts looking for his twin, whose passport he will be able to travel to London.

A film full of intrigue and complications, shows in the exaggerated picture of Poland at the end of the 1970s.

The creation of the title character by Stanisław Tyma is considered one of the best in his career. In the plebiscite of the weekly Polityka (1999) for "the most interesting Polish films of the 20th century" Teddy took 8th place.
