Sheep Sheep (long-haired and short-haired)

Runo is a coherent mass of loosely associated fibers or other fibrous objects. An example is the sheep fleece, ie the dense mass of sheep's hair obtained in the process of sheep's clipping (cf. the famous Golden Fleece). Also Biblical Gideon's Runo (wool fleece) is a well-known example of the fleece. The fox is also an object of worship in Anatolia and probably in the Caucasus (in the form of whole skin with fur).

The cult of the fleece was prevalent in northern Anatolia already in the hockey period. It is a symbol of relatively primitive fetishism. The Hittites take over this cult, and in their religion they play a very important role. It was probably an unrefined sheepskin, lamb or goat skin, pulled whole, bagged. Filled with sacrificed leather goods, they were hung on eja tree as a sort of horn of abundance. Sometimes a golden shield was hung on such a run. It has sometimes been personified and deified by the fleece, the names of the deity-run eg Zitharija are known. The old fleece was burnt during the purulla feast (I), while new ones were made during the feast of AN.TAH.ŠUM and were moved from city to city. In Caucasus, in Georgian Swanetia survived the habit of hanging bull or sheep skin on the oak during Melia-Telepia rituals associated with birth (the name seems to be related to Telepin, the Hittite god).
