Reconnaissance - Getting to know something in a specific area; in military terminology means recognition of positions and forces of the opponent, in cartography - making elementary measurements and calculations of the terrain. Also get familiar with the order and course of the exercises, etc.

The time, place and manner of conducting the reconnaissance is subordinate to its purpose and the problems it deals with. An element of determining the course of a reconnaissance is the style of commander's work, his experience and his personality. The leader decides where, when, where and with whom he will go to the ground. The Chief of Staff prepares detailed guidelines for reconnaissance. It is included in the staff work plan.
