The branch of David
The flag used by the group during the siege
This grouping was followed by the collapse of the apocalyptic movement led by the American Bulgarian origin, Victor Houteff (1885-1955), who, after expulsion from the Seventh-day Adventist Church, controversial views formed the "General Association of Davidianer Seventhday Adventists." He announced that soon his "Church" would take control of Palestine, which would have been the beginning of the apocalyptic end of the world. The group disintegrated in 1961. Some of the followers remained in the Texas headquarters of this movement in Waco, at the Mont Carmel Center.
In 1984, 25-year-old Vernon Wane Howell (David Koresh) joined her. He displayed leadership skills, ruthlessness and willingness to use violence, took over power, and forced a ruthless outcry in the community. He considered himself a supernatural being called a "prophet," "Messiah," and even "Christ." The group did not count more than a few hundred people. They gathered large quantities of firearms on the farm, preparing themselves for the end of the world. The Guru of this group preached the end of history. Only those who listened to him could be expected. He banned all bodily contacts, but he was the exception in this respect. He allowed sexual abuse of up to 12-year-olds. The "Dawidians", without any protest, endured all the prohibitions and orders of their leader.
In 1993, the authorities sent dozens of ATF agents to the farm to arrest the leader of the sect. The shooting took place, police forces had to retreat. The siege of the Mont Carmel Center lasted for 51 days, culminating in the outbreak of a fire during the assault, killing 80 people, including many women and children. David Koresh was also killed.
