Barbara Walters


Barbara Walters Barbara Jill Walters (born September 25, 1929 in Boston) is an American television journalist. First woman-anchor on US television. She led, usually with the men, the Today programs (NBC, 1962-76), the Evening News (ABC, 1976-78), 20/20 (ABC, 1984-2004). According to Ladies Home Journal, the fourth most powerful woman in America.

She was born into a Jewish family that came from Eastern Europe (her grandfather, Isaac Abrahams, was born in Lodz), a USA owned nightclub network, and Barbara was a celebrity. After graduating from college (1953) she went to CBS News, then to NBC.

In 1999, she conducted a famous interview with Monika Lewinsky for ABC (74 million viewers). She also held the inauguration of the presidents and the September 11, 2001 attacks.

She conducted interviews with many world leaders and celebrities.

Currently, he leads the ABC program The View (since 1997), where he is often seen in heated political and moral debates.

She had three husbands. Her disabled sister died in 1988, and her brother in 1932 for pneumonia. He has an adopted daughter.
