Blue meridian

Blue meridian (local meridian) - a large circle on the celestial sphere passing through blue poles and zenith. The blue meridian is the place where the culmination (pumping or piling) of celestial bodies takes place.

Contrary to language habits, derived from the use of a similar term in geography, the meridian name is reserved in the celestial sphere only for that one large circle (or its half). Any other large circle in the celestial sphere that performs the same function as the meridians of the earth, carries different titans, and so we speak of a family of vertical wheels, hour or time wheels, or of wheels of length.

The concept of the meridian is primitive to the notion of a meridian that is its projection on the surface of the Earth.
