Extreme Light Infrastructure


Extreme Light Infrastructure - a joint initiative of the European Union for the construction of high power lasers (200 petawatts) financed by the European Commission; the first project implemented under the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures. The project is attended by more than 300 scientists from 50 research institutions from 13 countries. The preparatory work in 2008-2011 took 6 million euros. 416 mln. euros.

Three ELI centers will be established in the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary.
