Personality type A

Type A personality, behavioral type A, type A behavior is a personality type, characterized by high levels of stress, time pressure, tendency to rival behavior, high levels of ambition, aggressiveness and hostility towards others. A person from the WZA perceives the environment as threatening and lives in a perpetual alarm (stress phase). In terms of psychological theoretical constructs, the WZA is characterized by neurotic extraversion (EPQ-R) and low level of agreement (NEO-FFI).

The hypothesis about the occurrence of personality type A was first put on by Osler. It is based on the premise that there is a connection between a person's personality and his cardiovascular disease. American cardiologists, Meyer Friedman and Ray Rosenman have conducted research that has shown that heart disease is twice as common in people who seek perfection and are in constant haste. There have been many longitudinal studies on type A personality and the risk of CWS: Some contemporary researchers have questioned the link between WZA and coronary heart disease. It seems, however, that some aspect of this type of personality - not to negate negative feelings, especially to suppress hostility - is one of the important causes of coronary heart disease.

WZA is the opposite of WZB, a type of somatic healthy personality.
