Benedict de Caché
Benedict de Caché (born in 1740 probably) - Austrian diplomat.
The exact time of his birth is unknown. His ancestors were huguenots, immigrants from France, after whom in 1685 Louis XIV canceled the Nantes edict. He began his diplomatic career as an Austrian mission officer in Sweden between 1764 and 1782.
He served as the Austrian Chargé d'affaires in the Commonwealth from May 1782 to July 1794. He was negative about the reforms of the Four-Year Sejm.
In July 1794, during the Kosciuszko insurrection, he decided to leave his diplomatic mission by announcing that he was leaving for Karlsbad only to repair his health. He returned to Poland only in 1808. Before he returned, he was the commissioner of the Debt Settlement Committee. In 1808 he settled in Warsaw, being actually an Austrian agent. Bibliography
