Encefalopatia Hashimoto

Hashimoto Encephalopathy - a rare neurological disease associated with autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto). Hashimoto's encephalopathy is usually seen in the 5th and 6th decades of life, four times more often in women. The pathogenesis of Hashimoto's encephalopathy is not clear, but autoimmune disease is highly probable. The most popular theory is that Hashimoto encephalopathy is a form of autoimmune vasculitis. Treatment of choice is steroid therapy, usually leading to partial or complete remission. The disease was described by Brain et al in 1966. Bibliography
