Kyriale

1962 Kyria or Kyriale (Latin kyriale) - a collection of melodies of the fixed parts of the Mass: Kyrie eleison, Gloria, Sanctus, Agnus Dei, Ite missa est / Benedicamus Domino.

According to the traditional collection we have 18 separate Masses for different occasions (Easter time, Marian holidays, ordinary time). The most famous is Mass 8 - De Angelis - Mass of angels, most commonly used in papal liturgy at the Vatican.

In Kyriale there are individual melodies of individual solids that you can use to compose your own sets.

In Kyriale, there are also melodies for aspirations - "Asperges" and "Vidi aquam", sung during Easter. Credo melodies are also included - the melody 3 is most commonly used in the Vatican.

As a result of the liturgical reform after the Second Vatican Council, the mother tongue is used in the renewed liturgy, and the Kyrian is renounced. It is difficult to translate these melodies into the native languages, because of the multitude of melodies (several or more dozen syllables per syllable), as well as a number of syllables after translating the words of the fixed parts. Such attempts were made in English. s
