Semen Horuk
Semen Horuk (born September 13, 1873) is a Ukrainian journalist, officer of the Legion of Ukrainian Sikhs and Ukrainian Halic army.
Graduated from Kolomyy Gymnasium, then studied at Lviv University. He was an activist of the organization "Molody Ukraina" and the Christian-Social Party, as well as editor of the magazine "Ruslan" and one of the organizers of "Galicia".
He was one of the organizers of the USS Legion, beginning as a commander of the sotnians, and from November 1914 - a moron. He participated in the battles of Makiwce and under Lyson, was wounded in the battle of Potutor.
In October 1918 he participated in the work of the Ukrainian General Military Commissar who prepared the occupation of Lviv in November 1918. From November 5 to December 10, 1918, he was the Chief of Staff of the UHA Headquarters. He participated in the Polish-Ukrainian war and the Ukrainian-Bolshevik war. He was taken to the Bolshevik captivity in April 1920 in Kiev and imprisoned in the Kozuchow prisoner camp near Moscow. In June 1920 he was deported to a special camp in the Solovski Islands, where he died.
