The National Park


Swamp of Čepkeliai in Dzukijskim National Park Dzukiki National Park (Dzūkijos nacionalinis parkas) is located in the south of Lithuania, at the border with Belarus, about 20 km northeast of Druskininkai. It was established in 1991 and occupies an area of ​​585.19 km², making it the largest national park in Lithuania. More than 90% of the Park's area is dominated by pine forests, inhabited by 54 species of mammals, more than 150 species of birds, 38 species of fish and several species of reptiles and amphibians. A relatively small part of the Park (232 hectares) is occupied by 48 lakes. Within the Park there are 28 nature reserves and 3 strict reserves.

The National Park Directorate is based in Marcinkańce (Marcinkonys).
