Richard Stachnik (born July 7, 1894 in Pila, February 28, 1982 in Coesfeld, Westphalia) is a Catholic priest of the Center Party and its president (1933-1937), Member of the Volkstag (1933-1939) representative of the anti-Nazi opposition of Gdansk. Curriculum vitae

In the years 1923-1928 he was the vicar of the church in St. Nicholas. After 1928 he taught religion at local junior high schools. In 1930 he took over the leadership of the Gdansk student chaplain.

He was the mandate of the Volkstag V and the 6th term (1933-1939). In March 1933, he was elected president of the Gdansk Party Center, which remained until the dissolution of the opposition political parties in October 1937. The negative attitude towards the NSDAP government in the Free City decided to break the coalition of centrists with the Nazis in the Gdansk Senate in the autumn of 1933. As a priest and politician with authority, he was the subject of a special hatred of the NSDAP authorities in Gdansk. In 1937 he was the victim of brutal beating by the so-called. unknown perpetrators, and at the turn of 1937 and 1938 spent six months in prison for anti-Nazi activities.
