Frederick Mortzfeld


Fryderyk Mortzfeld (born August 23, 1643 in Drwęcka near Olsztyn, died July 28, 1691 in Konigsberg) is a Lutheran Lutheran priest, religious writer. Curriculum vitae

He came from a peasant family. He attended the Dąbrów school in Dąbrowa and 1655-1659 to the cathedral school in Konigsberg. In 1659 - around 1666 he undertook theological studies at the university, which he had to interrupt due to the lack of material resources. In the years 1668-1672 he was rector of the Lutheran school in Vilnius, where he collaborated with Jan Herbinius, then taught Polish in Konigsberg. After being ordained as a cleric, he was pastor at Miłki in 1675-1676. From 1676 the deacon of the Polish parish in Konigsberg, where there was a misunderstanding with the parish priest, Fr. Jerzy Skrodzki. He translated from German religious songs, which - along with the works developed by Fr. - published in a 800-page chancellery in 1684. Bibliography
