The place of birth shall be entered in the civil status register in accordance with the national register of the official territorial division of the country and the official name of the place and its parts. Therefore, it is necessary to take into account the change in the name of the place where the birth took place.

The birthplace of history has played an important role, allowing, among other things, the distinction between people with the same name and the location of their relatives (eg Zyndram from Maszkowice). Over time, the birthplace in many cases has given birth to a surname (analogously - Zyndram Maszkowski). Sometimes, as well as the date of birth, it also served as a basis for determining nationality.
